How will you keep the Netherlands powered?
As an Engineering Manager Platform 2GW Program (expat India) you are responsible for managing and coordinating the engineering process within offshore (HVDC) platform projects, ensuring the Netherlands can rely on secure, affordable, and sustainable energy. Within TenneT we call this role Sub Project Lead.
You have the responsibility to:
- Manage the EPCI contractor towards successful completion of the design in line with contractual agreements, ensuring quality, schedule, and cost control.
- Coordinate engineering processes such as technical queries, change management, and document reviews, ensuring effective collaboration and timely resolution of design issues.
- Align with internal stakeholders and project management disciplines on design choices and requirements, ensuring integrated decision-making and project consistency.
- Review and safeguard critical engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with requirements, standards, and the 2GW standard design within your project scope.
- Manage design interfaces with other contractors and partners, ensuring alignment and consistency across systems and assets.
- Coordinate and monitor the certification process and contribute to the implementation of Safety by Design and systems engineering, ensuring safety, compliance, and long-term performance are structurally embedded.
During this assignment, you will operate in an international project environment with a strong focus on execution in India. The role starts with an onboarding period in the Netherlands (for one or a couple of months), after which you will relocate to Mumbai, India, working at the main contractor’s location (L&T). After the first year, relocation to the yard in Kattupalli (Chennai, India) may be considered. The expat period is expected to last up to 4–5 years. Frequent travel is part of the role, including at least one week per month within India and/or Europe. The position is based on a Dutch contract, governed by Dutch law, requiring an EU passport.
Your profile and background
Experience & skills
- A completed technical degree (BSc or higher) in a relevant engineering discipline
- At least 5+ years of experience with the design and construction of offshore platforms in oil & gas or offshore wind
- Preferably working experience with/in India
- Experience with EPCI contracts and complex engineering processes
- Strong problem-solving skills, enabling you to effectively address complex engineering challenges
- You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively, while constructively challenging and motivating both contractor and internal teams, ensuring alignment and results.
- You take initiative and ownership, combining persuasive and stakeholder aware behavior with balanced judgment and a strong, intrinsically motivated work ethic. Willingness to travel frequently (at least one week per month) within India and/or Europe
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken; Dutch is an advantage

Offshore is responsible for the development, construction, and management of the offshore electricity grid. With the North Sea as the green engine of the energy transition, Offshore plays a clear and vital role within TenneT’s organisational structure.
The Offshore division manages the entire lifecycle of all TenneT offshore installations, from development and realisation to maintenance and handover to the Operate division. A crucial task is the construction of 2 GW offshore ‘sockets’, which collect and transport generated wind energy to the mainland.

- A one year contract with a one-month probation period, with the intention of converting to a permanent employment contract based on good performance
- Salary in scale 9: €4.816,- €9.472,- per month, based on a 40 hours workweek.
