Your contribution to TenneT

As a Technical Specialist Cable Installation, you are responsible for providing technical support for offshore projects in the initiation, tender, and execution phases. Your expertise in offshore cable installation and burial ensures that the Netherlands can continue to rely on a secure and sustainable energy supply. In addition, you will be responsible for: 

  • Providing technical support for offshore projects - Advising and guiding projects on offshore cable installation and burial challenges, from design to execution. 
  • Driving innovation and research – Keeping up with the latest developments in the offshore industry and initiating research projects such as Joint Industry Research initiatives. 
  • Building and fostering collaboration – Maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote knowledge sharing and cooperation within the industry. 
  • Collecting and implementing lessons learned – Evaluating projects, gathering insights, and ensuring they are translated into improved processes and guidelines. 
  • Developing and maintaining technical requirements – Working closely with specialists within and outside the organization to ensure that offshore cable installation and burial standards remain up-to-date and applicable. 

You will be part of the Engineering Services team within LON at TenneT, consisting of approximately 10 colleagues. Together, you will work on the large-scale 2GW platform projects, a crucial step in the energy transition and the development of a future-proof offshore energy supply for the Netherlands. Your profile and background

Academic profile
You demonstrate a high level of academic thinking, supported by your Bachelor or Master’s degree in Offshore Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a comparable field. This is reflected in your ability to analyze complex problems and develop solutions that support the successful execution of offshore projects. 
Professional experience in offshore cable installation

Your extensive professional experience with offshore cable installation has equipped you with deep technical expertise, making you a reliable specialist in this area. This helps you identify, analyze, and resolve challenges related to cable installation and burial. 

Hands-on offshore installation experience and Systems Engineering

Having hands-on experience in offshore installation and familiarity with Systems Engineering enables you to tackle challenges in offshore cable installation projects, ensuring that designs and processes are optimally executed. Your practical experience adds value to both project planning and execution phases.

You bring at least 3-5 years of experience in offshore engineering, with a specific focus on offshore cable installation, which is an asset in large-scale offshore projects. You also have a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Offshore Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a comparable field, with relevant certifications or training strengthening your qualifications. 

Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is required for this position, as your work involves collaboration with international teams and stakeholders. Knowledge of Dutch is preferred, as it is beneficial for internal communication.

Large Projects Offshore is a key contributor to the energy transition. The Unit is responsible for the current and future development of the offshore grid as a whole and subsequently for the development and realization of the DC interconnectors and the Offshore Wind Farm grid connections in both the German and Dutch sectors of the North Sea.

  • 43 vacation days per year.
